~ THE RESTAURANT ~
Opened in 2013, Enoteca Athena has been a beloved main-stay in the heart of downtown Brunswick, Maine since the very beginning.
Original owner Tim O’Brien’s authentic Italian heritage informed his concept for high-quality, rustic Mediterranean food that showcases the American influence on the cuisines of Italy and Greece - while also highlighting traditional, regional Italian & Greek foods that are lesser known than their American counterparts.
Longtime best friends of Enoteca Athena, Carla Eastman and Henry Jost, took over the restaurant in 2022, bringing the same commitment to authenticity and good value/high quality that our cherished guests, new and old, have come to love and expect over time. With over 5 million years in combined experience in the restaurant hospitality business, Carla and Henry - who are not authentic Italians as far as anyone knows - continued the tradition of a warm, inviting, and unpretentious dining atmosphere with high quality food, drink, & service at Enoteca Athena. That same commitment extends to buying from local farms and utilizing sustainably raised proteins as a part of our daily routine - and our seasonal menu plays a big role in that approach.
Additionally, Enoteca Athena offers a world-class beverage program, featuring a range of interesting wines from different regions of Italy and Greece, thoughtfully crafted cocktails and mocktails, a Negroni bar with over 4,000 different combinations, and refreshing Maine-made craft beers. We have plenty of delicious & creative beverage choices for your perfect evening, and our knowledgeable team is here to help guide you. If you are looking for stunning Italian or Greek inspired food to pair with your beverage, we have much to offer: fried Roman artichokes (Carciofini Fritti), beautiful salads, Bruschette (say it with me now: broo-skett-ah), tasty spreads, fresh house-made pasta dishes, chef-curated entrees, weekly changing Arancini, daily specials and desserts. In a familial and friendly atmosphere, you are sure to find something you love! Small bites or a full dinner - you decide, we’re flexible.
In February of 2024, our beloved friend and infamous bartender, Henry Jost, passed away, leaving the restaurant in the trusting care of Carla Eastman. We are committed to the continued success of Enoteca Athena in his loving memory. Read more about Henry here.
